Resonance

According to the dictionary resonance is the reflection of sound on or from a surface. But we do not use this concept for the reflection of our words, although these are also mere sounds… With the sound of words strange things happen. Words have gotten meaning way beyond the explanation in the dictionary. Have gotten personalized sound effects. Simply because we have build our dictionary of interpretations, our own catalogue of meaning. That’s why we don’t hear the sound of words properly anymore. We go quickly into our dictionary and find our own preconceived ideas about the sound of words spoken to us. Instead of opening our ears and thoughts to what the sounds actually try to convey. And if we are in doubt, checking the resonance with the original sound. How much fresh, new ideas could we ‘hear’ in this way?! By tuning into the original, un-amplified, undiluted resonance of words.
